Since I want to go faster while doing autox and eventually get into track days, I am looking at putting racing seats in my Miata. I came across a local guy selling a set of Bride Low Max Replicas so I am going to check them out tomorrow. Hopefully if I like how they feel and they fit well in the car, I will have some bright red seats that grip me well! Included are garage star side mounts so I can hopefully get low enough to clear a roll bar. The beautiful part is just how easy it is to drop in the seats. 4 bolts and out goes the old and in goes the “new”. Hoping to sort out using the OEM 3 point seat belt but my eventual plan is to run a 5 or 6 point harness. I confirmed the seats do have sub slots so I can mount harnessess properly.
As my car sits now, my head sticks out quite a bit. Sure a foamectomy could work but my seats dont have nearly enough bolstering anyways. So this should definitely do the trick!

I need a good seat as well, really trying to hustle on back roads, is even scarier when you’re falling out of youre 25 year old leather seat. My cousin has an e39 with the optional sport bucket seats and every time I drive it I get jealous cuz the seats are so damn good

Hey, that’s my car/seat/bracket/belt combo! Those garage star mounts are fantastic, but if you want “maximum low” you’ll have to trim the metal slightly (with the bride low max seats at least).

Have there been any noted dangers of replica seats failing, like cracking easily?
There are a few videos of replica steering wheels bending easily, but I haven’t looked into seats.

From what I’ve read its basically the same exact structure. The only real difference is the amount of padding used, the quality of the actual seat material (plushness/softness), as well as the durability that is lacking in the replicas. But otherwise, they are essentially the same. Even the real ones arent FIA certified anyways so its no big deal. I wouldnt use it for a professional series race but its fine for daily driving, autox, and the occasional track day.

Oh yeah, I know if I really want low, I have to cut the humps. But I know this should be the best possible setup without having to do that. If I can get away without irreversibly modifying the car, I prefer that solution. And I dont plan on doing any track days just yet, so I still have time to figure that part out. Just Autox and daily driving for now, and that will just be nicer to be any amount lower. I sat in a Miata with SUPER low seats and it just made the car feel so much bigger and nicer.
